HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE ABOUT THE OPERATION. IF YOU DO NOT FIND THE ANSWERS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ON THIS WEBSITE, PLEASE CONTACT US USING THE FORM ON THIS PAGE.

CAN I HAVE AN OPERATION ?

If you are over 18 years old, if your sight has reached a stable level, and if you do not present any local or general counter-indications, then a laser operation is the right solution for you.

WHAT ARE THE COUNTER-INDICATIONS ?

Some are identified in advance, pin-pointed during decision-taking procedure.
A full ophthalmic check-up, plus the pre-surgery examinations carried out before any operation, will provide us with the information we need to take the decision.

HOW MUCH DOES AN OPERATION COST ?

Each ophthalmic surgeon is free to determine his or her own prices. You will determine the cost of the operation with your practitioner.

HOW DO I CHOOSE AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST ?

For ethical reasons, the Centre refuses to steer patients towards specific practitioners. You will find a list of ophthalmologists who already work with Visionis on our website.
We are a corporate practice. If your usual doctor does not feature in the list, s/he can simply submit a request to the Centre.

IS THE OPERATION PAINFUL ?

The operation is painless. It is carried out under topical anaesthetic. A few eye drops are enough.

HOW LONG DOES AN OPERATION LAST ?

An operation lasts between 5 and 15 minutes per eye, depending on the nature of the disorder to be corrected.

CAN BOTH EYES BE OPERATED ON AT THE SAME TIME ?

Yes. This is even preferable. Sometimes, however, it may be inadvisable for medical reasons. After carrying out a complete ophthalmic check-up, your practitioner will decide whether or not to treat one eye at a time.

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE THERE AFTER SURGERY ?

In some cases there may be partial disruption to night vision, with halos appearing round lights. A certain amount of dazzle may also be experienced temporarily.
These side effects are almost always transitory, disappearing after a few weeks.

HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE I ENJOY MY CORRECTED EYESIGHT ?

It only takes a matter of hours. You can plan to resume normal activities 48 hours after the operation and take up sporting and physical activities after a week.

WILL MY EYESIGHT BE CORRECTED DEFINITIVELY ?

For myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism, results are long-term. The correction will endure for as long as your vision remains stable. Most people's visual acuity decreases with age. The same applies to people whose sight has been corrected.
As for presbyopia, results last for 5 to 6 years. After this time, the eye may require further correction.

CAN THE OPERATION FAIL ?

For some patients, it may be that the correction is not perfect. In such a situation, touching up with the laser is all that is required.

IS THE OPERATION COVERED BY SOCIAL SECURITY ?

Apart from serious pathologies (also treated at Visionis), refractive surgery is considered as "comfort" surgery. It is therefore not reimbursed by social security. Certain mutual insurance companies may offer a flat-rate contributiont.

CAN I BENEFIT FROM EASY TERMS OF PAYMENT ?

If necessary, easy terms of payment can be granted on request.
