THE EYE IS TOO SHORT. THE IMAGE FORMS BEHIND THE RETINA. THINGS ARE BLURRED BOTH CLOSE UP AND IN THE DISTANCE.

THE DISORDER

In the majority of cases, the eye is too short and/or the curve of the cornea is not sufficiently pronounced. As a result, the light that enters into the eye is not directed onto the retina, but behind the retina. Initially, only items located close at hand are blurred, but as years go by, the same applies to things further away.
A younger person can make an extra effort when focusing and thus compensate to some extent for hypermetropia. But in time, the ability to accommodate dwindles and symptoms start to appear. High hypermetropia is inconvenient at any age, even among children, as it distorts short and long sight and demands constant correction.

CORRECTION

The laser treats the rim of the cornea, causing the central part to curve out.
