PRESBYOPIA IS A CONDITION THAT GENERALLY OCCURS AFTER THE AGE OF 45.

THE DISORDER

The word 'presbyopia' comes from the Greek for "ageing of the eye". The disorder is linked to the progressive hardening of the lens and reduced accommodation.
Accommodation is the lens's ability to modify its curvature in function of distances, in order to sharpen an image. From the age of approximately 40, the lens starts to thicken and gradually lose its elasticity. When it can no longer curve sufficiently, accommodation becomes more difficult.
Presbyopic individuals gradually find it more and more difficult clearly to distinguish objects located near to them.
If this disorder is not corrected, it can trigger headaches and visual fatigue.

CORRECTION

The procedure consists in re-shaping distinct zones of the cornea, combining them into a corrective solution.
